Convergent Series Project - Telescoping Series:
Description: This project assigned by Mr. Gualcherani needed us to create our own "chapter" booklet about a type of series test. We had to fulfill 9 requirements on a rubric given to us. First, my group organized how we were going to tackle the project and then we split parts up and efficiently completed it. Significance: This project was important to me because it was fun to work together as a group and finish it. I was amazed at how fast we finished it (around 3 days). I also enjoyed the meetings we arranged because for a fourth of the time we were there, we fooled around and got nothing done. Impact: When the telescoping series was taught to us, I did not quite understand how it worked. It took too much effort to apply it. After practicing it on a few problems I found it easy, but then 1-2 months passed by and I forgot some parts of it. This project helped me review it and my grade as well. |

Extra Credit Project - The Hare and the Hedgehog:
Description: This extra credit project required my group to take an original fairy tale and try to implement calculus concepts into the story line while trying to stay true to the original text as much as possible. My group organized ourselves before meeting and on the day of the meeting we completed our project. Significance: This project was meaningful to me not because of the actual project but because of the meeting. I enjoy meeting with my group very much because they are fun and easy to work with. Impact: With this project, nothing new was learned but instead reviewed. The purpose of the project was to reinforce the math concepts and the extra credit project was just to provide an incentive for doing so. |
